Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

Audio Recording

In California, is it legal to audio record persons who are on my private property indoors in one's home without their permission and without notifying them that they are being recorded? And what if the people are in a condominium complex and standing in a common area in which the person doing the recording has an undivided ownership interest? If a sign is hung on the entry door to the owners unit, stating that audio recording is taking place at all times, does this change the legality of the recording?

Re: Audio Recording

If you want to face civil and criminal penalties, record away. Otherwise, only after disclosure and agreement should you record anyone.
