Re: Can I buy a gun

Generally, misdemeanors like these do not result in firearms ban. You should be ok, but go to the court and check your file to see if the court imposed a firearms ban, to be sure.

Additionally, you should be able to get those convictions 'expunged' by appropriate motion and application to the court. That would allow you to say 'no' to conviction on most private employment applications.

Feel free to contact me if serious about getting the legal help you'll need in either situation. Firearms law is one of my area of emphasis.

Re: Can I buy a gun

Although you forgot the exact charges, you will have to find out whether they are misdemeanors or felonies or whether they are on a list of specified crimes. Misdemeanor assault and vandalism, sounds like you should be OK, but you really should find out before attempting to buy.

You might be able to look up your cases on www.occourts.org .

Also, although this would not affect your ability to purchase or own a firearm, it would be a smart idea to get the convictions expunged.
