Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

California Penal Code SEction 490.5 (b) (c)

A Civil Claim is being filed against me

under cal. penal code section 490.5

(b) (c). From what i understand they

can only pursue me if I stole

something from the store and I

didn't. My friends were the ones

shoplifting and i was not even aware.

How can I go about this situation?

PLEASE HELP!

You understand wrong. Anyone alleged to be participating in such 'conspiracy' can be criminally charged and civilly sued. I've handled felony conspiracy charges filed against all defendants in such cases, where only misdemeanor charges would apply if you were acting alone.
