Charged with pc 243 e 1 case was dismissed after 8 anger management classes did I lose my rights to buy firearms

Your case was dismissed, and evidently your anger is cured, so my best guess is you may buy firearms. You might want to do a self-background check via the Calif. Attorney General's office before you attempt any firearms purchases.

You lose your firearms rights for any felony conviction, some violent misdemeanor convictions, a domestic violence restraining order [which is usually part of cases like yours], a specific court order re firearms [also likely in your case], or commitment for psychiatric examination. As Mr. Stone suggested, and if you don't think any of those apply, you could go to any licensed gun dealer and request a 'non purchase' background check. In a week or so, DOJ will give you the answer to your question. Don't so much as touch a gun in that store, or elsewhere, unless you get an affirmative answer.
