Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

civil case

I received a summons stating that my son along with several other 5th grade students, the school principle, several school employees and the school district are being sued (complaint for damages over 25,000) demanding a jury trial by another student (his parents) for several allegations including assault, battery, and several negligence complaints. Yes, my son was involved in a school fight several months ago, but the school took care of the situation as far as my son was concerned ( so I thought). I don't know what to do. I do not have any money to defend my son in a civil matter. This has become a public matter, with an article appearing last week in our local paper. My son was also a victim in this case. But I never thought to ''sue'' anyone over the matter. But now I think that maybe I should counter sue but more importantly get representation for my son; although he or his fight is not the only grounds for suing. I was hoping that an attorney would be willing to take my case on a pro bono basis. Like I said, this has become a public civil case. Can anyone please advise me??

Re: civil case

You definitely need an attorney, no amount of tips and hints from here are going to do you any real good. Call your local Bar Association and ask for their limited means or pro bono panel referrals. Check with your church, civic and social groups for referrals.
