Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

Defamation of Character

I am being falsely accused for sexual harassment at my work. Can I take her to court for destroying my career and name?

-I just picked the ''area of law'', I wasn't sure with one it pertained to.

Thank you.

Re: Defamation of Character

You'd have to be able to PROVE her statements were false with admissible evidence. Just you saying it, and denying her charges, doesn't prove it. IF you have credible witnesses prepared to testify that they heard her say she was going to make up something about you, that would be good evidence. IF you could show that she claimed the incident occurred on a day and time when you were actually not at work, or when you had witnesses to say she wasn't there, that would be evidence. Without something like that, you're going to spend a lot of money on a case you can't win.
