Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California
Excluded from Membership of Educational Organization
This is a complex problem. A local Organization promoting education created a DNI (Do Not Invite) Policy March 2002. April 2002, they unsuccessfully attempted to have her DNI'ed, based on background information gathered from a Private Investigator. A month after the first vote, they tried again. The main focus of their argument was ''Present us with your background information or you will be kicked out.'' She refused as she works as a volunteer. She was DNI'ed from the Organization, and cannot go to Member's Only functions according to the Policy. January 2003 the DNI policy was voted out of existance, but my wife's name remains on a DNI list. After going to an event that was open to the General Public she received a Certified Mail letter stating that if she ''attempts to attend a (Organization's) function you will be refused access and will be asked to leave. If you do not it will be considered trespassing and the authorities may be called.'' This has gone on long enough.

Not enough facts to enable me to give an informed answer. There are circumstances where people can be exclude, of course, such as felons prohibited from school employment. If she is local to us, and interested in discussing what can be done legally, have her contact me.
