Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California
how do I file law suit
A friend of mine was married to this man about 10 years ago, and his dad sexually molested her or raped her sister. She never told authorities about it, but did tell other people. She now wants to file a lawsuit of some kind against him and experiencing emotional problems now over this. She feels that now she can come forward and speak about it and wants to sue. Can she still do that after this long. If so what kind of lawsuit does she file?

Yes, depending on her age. She should see a lawyer right away.

The Statute of Limitations would allow a minor to file within 8 years after turning 18. Sounds like it is long past that time. If not, then have her contact me to discuss her rights and remedies. She would have to have evidence and proof to back up her allegations in order to win.

She should see a mental health professional to try and address the emotional problems she is experiencing.
