Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California
I hired a lawyer for a suit against banks for the unlawful eviction, long story. He has been sending me bills but no proof that my case is still going. I just checked up on him to find that he was suspended for a two month period during of which he was working for me. He was suspended for not refunding payments and withdraw from employment. How do I find out where my case is or if it is in the courts now? I have two case numbers but no clue where to look. Then I need to know what to do from there? If he let my case go what recourse do I have? How do I get my money back from him? Not sure what to do. Unsure of the area of law to pick so I am just picking civil?

The case should have been filed with either the CA superior court in your county or the federal court. The case number might provide a clue. If it 13- or 14- and has initials after the number, it's probably federal. Most state courts have websites that provide case information. Federal courts use the Pacer system that costs money. But you can go to the relevant court clerk's office and ask about the case, as well.
In addition to the above, the answer to all your "what to do" questions appears to be to hire an attorney in your area to pick up the case if it is still 'alive' in court, and pursue it before it gets dismissed, assuming it is worth pursuing. Also, to report any suspected client abandonment or malpractice to the California State Bar. Also, if you suffered recognizable damage to your case, like loss of your fees, loss of case, etc., you might have grounds for a lawsuit against him for your damages.
