Impounded car for evidence

The police show up at my door,told me they recieved 2 phone calls saying I hit a wall. They took my keys went into my garage and reoved my car from my locked garage on private property. They said it was inpounded for evidence. Do they have the rights to do this? How long can they keep my car? Both myself & younger son (who was in car also) were telling them noway did I hit a wall on private property.

This happened yesterday abi-oiy 2:00. can they do this?

Can they? They just did. And you gave your consent to the search. If they impounded the car as evidence, they must have found something they contend was 'evidence' in or on the car. If so, the car may sit in impound until the end of any criminal proceedings unless you can get it released by court order. If you don't hire experienced counsel, you are not likely to be happy about the outcome of the criminal charges they are preparing to file against you.
