Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

Is is legal for a Judge to hold a hearing in my absence?

This particular Judge held 2 ex-parte hearings both of which I was not notified, and then one regular hearing in which I gave prior notice that I would not attend - and it was my motion- but he held it anyway. Is this legal?

It depends. Assuming notice was constituionally adequate, it would be legal.
