Re: NameChanging Question

In California, a person can change his/her name except for fraudulent reasons. The new name can be adopted without court order, so long as the person consistently uses the new name and notifies everyone relevant of the name change and gets updated records, driver's license, etc. It can also be changed through court order after publication in a newspaper of record. Hope this helps.

Re: NameChanging Question

You can do what you desire by filing the appropriate court motion and pleadings. If your mom is in California, then that is where you can claim residence and file. Feel free to contact me if interested in having me do this for you in one of the Southern California courts.
