Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California
My neighbor works on race cars and when he revs them up it is so loud I have trouble hearing my television. What are my options legally to put a stop to this? He is less than 100 feet away.

The first step is for you to get an inexpensive sound power level (SPL) meter and take notes of the peak readings. You can then compare the dB levels you recorded against your local noise ordinance.

You can also just file for a Restraining Order. You will need to bring witnesses to confirm the annoying aspect of hte noise, and of course a decibel reading would help the court.
