ask someone to pay off money borrowed
I(in CA) lent someone(in MI) $30k
from 1997-2000. I have the copy of
check, he didn't pay off any cent till today, he has a house(worth 200K+) and running a small company there. How much (plus interests) and how can I get money back, and what's the legal code. thanks,

Check Michigan statutes of limitations. If he hasn't paid a dime, the two- or four-year CA statutes of limitations bar monetary recovery, unless you secured the loan in some other way.

It's too late for you to sue in CA, so check the statute of limitations in MI to see if there's is longer.

Unless you had a written 'promissory note' with a payment due date less than four years ago, it's too late for you to sue in CA, so check the statute of limitations in MI to see if their's is longer.
