Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California
Can I press charges if a school classmate has said they want to hurt me or if this person were to hit me ?or what can i do to rid myself from problems with this person?

You will need to get a restraining Order, if no harm has occurred yet. You will have to prove with witnesses that you are l ikely to get hurt from this person.

If someone commits a crime, like assault or battery, you can 'file' charges with the police, and the DA can 'press' charges if they agree. You can seek a restraining order if you have sufficient evidence to prove viable threats and risk exists.
