Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

Privacy

I found my name on a website forum. Somebody posted a letter which he/she received including my name, address and a story about me.

I told the owners of the website that this letter is false and that I think it is illegal to publish an email from person A to person B on the internet. I asked them to -at least- remove my name. The website owners ignore my requests.

What can I do?

PS: The website owner lives in CA, but I'm from Europe.

Maybe a letter from a lawyer will get their attention.

Good luck! There is little accountability on the web. Remember, it is a 'wild and free' unregulated place. Consider having your attorney contact them, but understand that he can't do much effectively, even if he spends a lot of time [ which = money].
