Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

Rights of a Minor Child

Hello - Is it legal for city police officers to interrogate (ask questions regarding his involvement in a stolen cell phone incident) a 14 year old boy in a High School office space without first advising him of his constitutional rights? and while NOT in the presence of either his mother or father? They yelled at him and told him if he didn't tell them the truth, they would arrest, handcuff him and take him to Jail or Juvenile Hall. Isn't that intimidation? Coercion? Can you please give me the CA Penal Code Article (or other source) that applies. Thank You!

Re: Rights of a Minor Child

If he is arrested and charged with a crime, get him an attorney. If not, don't 'kick a sleeping dog' and cause them to come back in response.
