If I allow an officer in my home to ''talk'' does he then have the right to search without a warrant?

Everywhere necessary to ensure his safety. You open that door to him, you open the door to your prosecution if there are any grounds for it.

Why would you either allow him into your home, or talk to him? Once he is in your home he is going to claim he is in fear for his life and use that as a pretext to start poking around everywhere.
