if i am being sue and my i am currently receving ss can they take my home

amount being sued for is 12,000

Receiving SS has nothing to do with defending a lawsuit. You still have to do so, just like anyone else would have to. If someone gets a judgment against you, yes, they may then levy on your home or other assets. They can't levy on your benefit checks directly. Sounds like you need an attorney.
