Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California
I was working in someones home and the maid was very timid and frightened by person. she did not speak any english, and the person who is owner of the home spoke no english. This woman scrubbed the floor in one spot for hours and said she was afraid she would never get to go home. She had mentioned one day about the house under the house which my parnter had observed crawling under the foundation of the house, so I know she was not lying. I know the owner had a listening device, because on the table is a intercom telephone with the handset missing allowing for a constant connection. Nevertheless when she had said that about the house the owner immediately came home from his office and very angrily told us that the maid would not be allowed to open the door for us any longer when we came to work on his property. He further advised us that we would have to call his office and he would come home and open the door for us. From that moment on we never saw that maid again, yet prior to that we saw her everyday. I understand the seriousness of my statement and I am very confident that she is being held against her will or is an indentured servant. \n\n What do I do about this, and who do I make aware of this so that she can be talked to to confirm that she is not in any danger and that I am hopefully a nut? \nThis person (the owner) is a very cruel person and I am willing to take any amount of risk and blame for having brough this to the fore if I am wrong, but this matter must be investigated. \n\nI am so regretful that I didn\'t think to ask this question on lawguru earlier and I am so very sorry if I am too late and even if I\'m not too late, no one should be treated like that for any amount of time. Time has elapsed and who knows what has happened to this woman....Please your response may prove to be very important. I await your earliest response

if you are serious, then call the police. without evidence of crime they may not be able to do anything. Try to get them to go ask her whereabouts and confirm it.
