Violation of the Electronic Communication Privacy Act

I have just discovered that my father-in-law has been accessing my email account for more than--name removed--years.--name removed--am considering pressing charges but my local police want proof. When--name removed--attempted to contact Hotmail--name removed--found that--name removed--can only get the proof with--name removed--subpoena, warrent, or court order--name removed----name removed--Can--name removed--create--name removed--subpoena without--name removed--filed case and/or can--name removed--create the subpoena myself?

You can find out his internet service provider, and subpoena his IP addresses listed by date. You also would subpoena your own email provider, e.g. Hotmail, for the logs of what IP addresses have accessed your email account on what dates. If the cops aren't interested, you need to do all these things yourself by filing a civil lawsuit and issuing subpoenas for the information. Act quickly before the data vanishes.
