Re: workers comp

I believe it is $1,000 per worker, so $1,000 in your example, plus twice the premium the employer would have paidduring the time the worker(s) were uninsured.

There are additional penalties in certain problem cases, such as fraud, filing false reports, interfering with investigations, etc. that can include misdemeanor criminal charges.

Of course, if the worker is injured or killed while no insurance is in effect, the liability of the employer can be enormous. I have seen cases where prosperous small businesses were wiped out when an unisured worker suffered a disabling injury.

Re: workers comp

Full liability for payment of all the worker's medical expenses and awards that would have been paid by WCAB. Plus, penalties and interest on the money that was supposed to have been paid to the fund.
