Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Car consigned to a dealer was sold and I haven't received payment

I put my car on consignment with a local used car dealer. The car was sold two months ago by the dealer. I still hold the pink slip but I haven't received payment-$4900. The dealer closed down his business two weeks after the sale of my car - he has told me this was due to his divorce. I have talked to him almost weekly and he promises me the money on a certain date and fails to deliver. He has not returned my calls in the last two weeks. I am filing a complaint with the DMV and there is an investigation. The car has not been registered by the new owner. What other options do I have to get the money due to me?
