Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Lease question
Hi! My friend (Bob)lived in an apartment with another (Jack) and they both signed a month-to-month lease. 8 months ago, Bob terminated his lease and moved out while Jack stayed. Bob gave his entire deposit to Jack and called it even. Bob received a collection notice from the old apartment stating that he owes money now that Jack has moved out. Apparently, after Bob moved out, Jack and his new roommate, who never signed the lease, tore up the place. Is Bob responsible for more?

Re: Lease question
If he terminated the lease and the landlord was aware that he was out of the apartment, then he should not be responsible for anything that occurred after the move out.
