Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Can i take legal action?

Recently i placed an add to sell my car and someone answered the add. agreed to purchase it. After weeks of waiting i recieved a check opened an account to deposit the check to be cashed. I told the buyer that i couldnt touch the account until friday. Wednesday the check cleared but my account wasn't open. Thursday he put a stop parment on the check. Asking price of the car was $900 he sent $3500 for my asking price and the rest for sending the car to him. He constantly pressured me to send him $2600 up until the day he put the stop payment on the check. Can i pursuit legal action against this person?

Re: Can i take legal action?

it sounds like he was trying to scam you. if you aren't out of any money, or the car, then what would you try to sue him for? it doesn't make sense. waste of time. relist the car.

If you didn't transfer the car to him, what was your loss, other than the cost of placing a new ad? Obviously, he was a scammer. You might report the incident to authorities.
