Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Telephone /DSL Bill
I had phone service through SBC. My husband and I separated and the phone service was left on in my name. Not sure how, but he ordered DSL service and never paid the bill. They entered a contract that said the service would need to be kept for a year. It was disconnected early and they are holding me responsible for the early termination fee of $250 and equipment fee of $95 which I have never seen nor received.
Can they do this?

Re: Telephone /DSL Bill
You have some distinct issues here. One is, whether or not you are responsible to SBC for the bill. The other is whether or not anyone owes SBC the $250 "penalty."
Feel free to email me directly if you would like to discuss in more detail.
