Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
2000 Chevrolet Truck
I purchased a vehicle from a private party. I ran it through the DMV autocheck where it reported no problems. When I went to lien sale the vehicle I was notified by a finance co. that said they wanted the vehicle back and there was $20,000 owed on it. Do I have to give them the vehicle back with no reimbersment on what money I have in the vehicle or does the finance co. have to give me what money I paid for the vehicle and the money put in the vehicle for other misc. reasons.

If the finance company has a lien on the car, then it must be returned because it was never the seller's to sell.
And you are not entitled to reimbursement by the finance company.
You would file a lawsuit against the seller.
