Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

How can I challenge or dispute a lien against my boat?

I own a sailboat. The title is in my name, but there is also a lienholder listed on the title. There is no reason for this lien to exist. I do not owe anything to the lienholder. The lienholder agrees that I owe him nothing, but refuses to cooperate in releasing the lien. Do I have any rights or recourse in this matter? I would like to have the lien removed, but I'm not sure where to begin. Thanks so much.

Before you incur legal expenses, go to DMV and see if they have an adminstrative way of fighting the lien. If this does not work, please contact our office so we can review your paperwork and correspondence.
