If a credit card gets a judgement against us, can they really garnish our wages? Is it not only the IRS can garnish wages. And for how long will the judgement be in effect?

Yes. A judgment creditor can levy on wages, bank accounts, and real property, among other things. The judgment would last ten years, and could be renewed for another ten-year period.
