Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I recieved a letter in the mail today from an Attorney's office from CA. I have not lived in CA since December 2008. The letter is stating that they are suing me for past debt. What if anything can I do? Should I contact the attorney's office or send a letter to the court explaining that I have not lived in CA since December 2008?

Timely file an answer, demurrer, or motion to strike (or a combination of any of them). If you had entered into the debt while in California, it may be an appropriate jurisdiction for the lawsuit. You might file a motion to change venue to your new home state, however.
