Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
My wages have been garnished for a credit card that I was one of two people named on. They are not taking legal action against the other person. I filed the claim of exemption form and now I have to go to court. I cannot afford the wage garnishment. What can I do?

If you are so inclined, you can sue the other person on the card. Other than the claim of exemptiion and bankruptcy there i little to do short of. Hanging jobs. Except in unusual circumstances, they will be allowed to seize 25% of your wages. .
If the court grants your claim of exemption, the money will be returned to you eventually. The court might also deny the claim of exemption or maybe grant it in part by reducing the amount of the garnishment.
You can also file for bankruptcy as well to stop the garnishment.
