Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
In 2002 I was charged with Grand theft and conspiracy to commit a crime. In 2003 a deal was worked out that I would do 6 weeks in jail, pay $1000 in restitution and have probation. I didnt show up for my sentencing hearing. Now 7 years later I am trying to be responsible and take care of this so that I know longer have a warrant. My court date is June 7th. Any ideas of what might happen?

You might be put in jail for the sentence you agreed and pled to, plus more time and fines for the Failure to Appear. You might instead have your 'deal' set aside and be sentenced to the full term provided in the Penal Code. You would be well advised to hire an attorney to represent you in negotiating with the judge and DA. It would make you look like you took the problem more seriously than wandering in on your own and expecting leniency. If serious about doing so, feel free to contact me.
