Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

290 registration

I coped to a 390 10 years ago. I had a bad atty. who gave me bad advice. As a result I have to register as a registered sex offender. I already went to court to have it expunged. that was granted. Is there any way toget rid of the 290 registeration ''sex ofender registeration''? The atty. said that was the only way to get out of jail rite away. Also that I would only have to register for three years. That was wrong. the law had just changed to life-time. I feel like that is a life-time of jail anyway. The atty. wont return my phone calls over the years.

Re: 290 registration

Your only potential recourse is to seek a court order removing you from registration and restoring your rights, then trying to get you removed from the federal database with the new court order. There is certainly no guarantee it will succeed, and it will take a really convincing presentation of facts and reasons, but if you're serious about pursuing it, feel free to contact me.
