1st time Theft case charged as Burgerly help seek
If someone was to steal some alcohol from a local store at the price amount of lets say 100 dollars. The police claim to have a video tape, but was never seen by the person stealing. The person confessed that they did take two bottles and was charged with a felony. The person is being charged with 459:PC, 182PC, 496PC. They need help on what should they do, and this is their first time doing anything like this. No prier record of any sort, good student, lives at home with family, parents were gone out of town when this happened and he is asking what need to be done to drop it or lower it to a misdemeanor? thanks you for your responses.

Get a lawyer involved as soon as possible. If this is first offense, dropping it down to misdemeanor or complete diversion (taking classes etc. for complete dismissal following a short probationary period) might be possible.
If you cannot afford a private attorney, you will be entitled to be represented by a public defender.

I suggest the same as Mr. Lentz. I however would not let my family be defended by the Public Defender, as they are very busy, and may not have the time to put into your individual case.

Hire a lawyer ASAP and you will have a much better chance of getting the desired outcome.

No advice you get here is going to do you the slightest good, unless you know how to practice law and could use it effectively in court, EXCEPT: If you can't afford an attorney, apply for the Public Defender. If you can afford one, do so immediately.
