Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

6th Amendment

I was arrested 10 months ago on Friday morning at 2 A.M. and was in jail until Thursday morning at 2 A.M. During this time I was never given an opportunity to speak to a public defender nor given the right to a speedy trial. The charges were not filed until recently and I now have a warrant for my arrest. But, I believe my 6th amendment rights begin once I was arrested. Were my rights violated? Was I kept in jail unlawfully? What can I do?

Re: 6th Amendment

Hire an attorney and raise whatever legitimate defenses, facts, and evidence you have. IF you confessed without benefit of counsel after asking, you need a suppression motion, among other things. It is unwise to play lawyer yourself, unless you know all the pleadings, rules, procedures, etc. Your question makes clear you don't. Feel free to contact me if interested in doing it right, if the case is in SoCal.
