Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

12 year old warrant

I just had a background ck done for a job and was informed I had a warrant issued in 12/95 for forgery. I have never even had a parking ticket much less anything like this! I have had previous background checks done and nothing ever showed up, the last was only 6 months ago. What can I do to clear this up? I have to fix this in order to get my job but dont want to end up in jail. They gave me the case number but searching online for San Bernardino county the only thing on my name is my divorce. Nothing else.

Re: 12 year old warrant

You should go to the court and get a document from them that shows there is no such case against you. Give that to your prospective employers. It is likely there was ID confusion, it happens. If however, you find when you go that there really is a case, then promptly get an attorney to help you sort it out. You'll have to show the court that the warrant is for someone else. Feel free to contact me if you decide you need legal help doing this.
