Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I know someone who is accused of child molestation, sodomy and penetration with a foreign object. However, the child, upon turning major, has given statement in favor of the accused. In this circumstances, why is police not dropping the case? What is the punishment for the above crime? What if the accuse has absconded out of the country?

That is a crime that carries years of prison time and registered sex offender status. Prosecutors don't drop charges just because a victim changes his mind under pressure or duress, they subpoena the victim to court to testify. If the criminal is out of country, the outstanding warrant will cause his immediate arrest upon an contact with US law enforcement, such as Customs or police.
