Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I am being accused of embezzling $1000 from my former employer. First offense. I've never been in trouble with the law. They say they have me on video. I spoke to my former boss and said I didn't do it but I'm willing to pay it. They filed a report and now I don't know what's going to happen and I'm scared to go to jail I have a daughter. I don't have the money for a lawyer what do I do?
1 Answer from Attorneys
You should follow the advice of every TV show and movie cop show, "you have a right to remain silent" until you speak with your attorney. Get one promptly, and stop talking to anyone except him about the case. A good criminal defense lawyer will protect you against the accusation and yourself.
