Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Accused by employer of grand larceny

Questions: What are my rights? What would be the procedure to follow? Can he just accuse me and I get in trouble? Will they look into it at least?

Description: My ex-employer (4 months past) found a discrepency on his dep books. The books are carbon copied and there is a deposit made at the bank that doesn't include cash of $1500 that is on the carbon receipt. I accepted a lot of cash and rent and made multiple deposits. He states since it is my writing it is my responsiblity and is accusing me of grand larceny. Point#1 His company is disorganized that the money was kept in a desk drawer in a folder left unlocked all day. Point #2 I wasn't the only person that was in those drawers. Point #3 The deposit left my hands and was deposited by himself and sometimes by his father. I never made the deposits.

Re: Accused by employer of grand larceny

Your rights? To a speedy trial, etc.

If you are charged, hire counsel immediately. In the meantime, do NOT talk to anyone. Most people are convicted through their own words, trying to be 'helpful' to the police.

Call me if you need to hire legal help.
