Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

being accused of fordging checks

I was hired as an office personel and not a bookkeeper but i was doing bookkeeping and i crashed the computer not having backup. He let me go and the next thing i knew i was being accused of cashing checks saying that i forged them. I know that his books were my responsablity, but now the da picked up the case. I said i would pay back what ever i just didnt want to go to jail but i didn t do anything, what do i do. I am so scared and it is wrong for this to happen, I didn't sign any checks

Re: being accused of fordging checks

Well, agreeing to 'pay back' something you didn't take is contradictory, and led the DA to believe you stole the money. You now need legal counsel to defend you in the criminal charges. If the facts support you, if the DA can't prove you took anything, you can hope to avoid conviction. Feel free to contact me if you want help in this.
