i was accused of stealing by a former employer

I was accused of stealing 600 dollars from a former employer, I need some advice he just contacted me yesterday to tell me this which apparently happened about four months ago, I have not work for the company for a month and a half. Please advise me of what to do, thank you

What NOT to do: confess, admit to anything, agree to anything, say anything to ctore security, say anything to police.

Reason: you will be asked to cooperate and told they won't press charges. That is generally a lie to get you to confess, whereupon you will be arrested, and convicted on your confession.

What TO DO: shut up, say you will talk through your lawyer, hire your lawyer, follow his advice.
