Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

advice needed, please

My son was court ordered into a two year drug program and a stipulation was put into his probation terms which says ''if he fails to complete the program, he will go back to prison for ten years.'' He was a ''model student'' for almost eight months and then one day he smoked some weed and got caught. He was asked to leave the program for 90 days. His probation officer told him he will have to go back to court. My son panicked at the thought of a ten year prison term and he's been more or less ''hiding out.'' If he re-enters the drug program, can he still be sent back to prison for ten years?? His drug addiction has been an on going problem for many years and it has cost him a lot of years in and out of prison. All his crimes have been violations or dumb things like shoplifting in order to buy his drugs with. Can you offer me some advice that I might relay to him?? Thank you for your time.

Advice? Sure, hire an attorney who can help him turn himself in voluntarily and beg the court for mercy and reinstatment. If he is instead caught, he will do the ten years. How likely is it that he can live the rest of his life with no contact with police? If stopped for a traffic ticket, he goes away in handcuffs from anywhere in the US. Contact me if interested in obtaining representation.
