Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

anger management

I was told by the court to attend anger management due to a temporary restraing order made by my father three years ago. The order expired Jan of this year. The court never contacted me so I don't know what to do. Do I still attend? Am I in legal trouble? I lost the court restraining order and can't even remember which court it was issued from.

Re: anger management

Trouble? Well if you consider that there is an arrest warrant out for you trouble, then yes. I suggest you get an attorney to check the court system and appear for you to get this straightened out, before you get taken away in handcuffs. Feel free to contact me for that help if this is in SoCal courts.

Re: anger management

Thank you for your question. As counsel have noted, it's likely that you have a warrant out for your arrest if you failed to attend, complete, or file proof that you attended the anger management classes.

If you know what county your case was in, it's possible to do a search and find the exact details of your case, including the due dates, what was ordered, and out of which court. Feel free to email me directly at [email protected], and I can assist you further, if you like.

Re: anger management

You should have received a progress report date to submit proof of your class completion, or provided with some other mechanism to submit proof to the court. The court doesnt contact you for this, you must follow up with the court.

Although, each case is different, if you missed a court date or otherwise failed to prove your class completion, you may have a bench warrant for your arrest. In that case, the TRO may have been renewed by the court for your failure to either appear or submit proof.
