How do i go about appealng a life sentence from 20 years ago

It's too late to appeal a sentence from so long ago, but it may be possible to challenge it by petitioning for a writ of habeas corpus. Please note that, unlike a direct appeal, there is no right to an appointed attorney in a habeas corpus case.
