if i was arrested for 11370.1 h&s, but ultimately charged with 11350 h&s. can i retrieve my firearm?

That can be a wobbler charge. If your conviction was as a felony, you are a person 'prohibited' from ever owning or possessing a firearm or ammo. If it was as a misdemeanor, then you have nothing to lose by trying. Make written request on the police agency, followed up with the appropriate court motion if refused.
