Generally charges are to be brought (filed) in a "reasonable time" and without "undue delay," not to exceed 48 hours after arrest. However anyone can be held much longer for other reasons, such as having an Immigration Hold or a Parole Hold. Good luck!

2 days, not including weekends and court holidays. Failure would result in case dismissal. However, the DA would merely refile and rearrest if he wanted. Warrant holds or immigration holds will keep you in custody until they are also cleared. If serious about hiring counsel to help in this, and if this is in SoCal courts, feel free to contact me.
