Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Hi, i was arrested for p.c.470a and 424a, I stole money from my employer(2000.00) and forgered someone elses signiture. I posted bail an now I am awaiting my arraignment. What can I expect. It is my first and only offence and already confessed to the police that I did it. Just wondering whats going to happen?? I know there is not alot of sympathy for people who steal money right now, I'm scared!

Confessing was a *very* bad idea. You might have torpedoed some viable defense strategies by doing that. You should get a lawyer before the arraignment if at all possible. If you can't afford one, show up at the arraignment and tell the judge you need a public defender -- and keep your mouth shut about what happened.

It's too late to tell you not to speak to police, so now what you need is a good attorney to make the best of your bad situation. I don't recommend you continue to 'represent' yourself. The attorney can try to negotiate a deal for you to avoid jail time, based on your record, attitude, and whatever sympathy and defenses you may have. If serious about doing so, feel free to contact me; I've been doing this a long time.
