Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
If I was arrested for posession of narcotics, and a detective released me and told me the charges were dropped, can they still file charges months later and issue a warrant for my arrest?

Yes because the detective cant drop charges....the DA is the one that ultimately decides if charges are filed.

Yes. Up to a year for misdemeanors, and from one to six years for felonies other than murder.
