Laugh all you want, but you still have a DUI and a failure to appear, and you will need to clear things up or remain a fugitive all your life. Can I help?.

"Your ego is writing checks your body can't cash." I remember hearing that somewhere, once. You are putting yourself in the "hole" with your horrendous attitude. I suggest you get over yourself, and get a criminal defense attorney as soon as possible.

The 'joke' is on you. Yes, you can still fight the charges, but you now have an arrest warrant against you and new charges of Failure to Appear. You must either try to remain a fugitive, or turn yourself into court and handle the charges with whatever admissible and credible evidence you may have in defense. Either hire an attorney to represent you, or apply for the Public Defender. If serious about hiring counsel, feel free to contact me.

I like Mr. Roach's answer and he is absolutely correct. An arrest is never a joke. When I have clients that do not understand the seriousness of the charges against them or they act as if it is not big deal, I have what I refer to as "a come to Jesus talk" with them. I explain the situation and make sure they understand what could happen to them. In your situation, if you're acting tough or pretending the situation is a joke and you really feel otherwise then it is time to start facing the truth. If you still think this is all just a joke, then in my opinion you're in for a very rude awakening.

No matter how you feel about it, the best thing you can do for yourself is hire a criminal defense attorney. I would suggest sooner rather than later, as these things tend to get worse as time passes.

Good luck,

Brian D. McGinity
