If I was attacked at my home and I fought back can I get charged with assault?

You can be charged but you should fight it. It is called self defense. If the person was a burglar you have the ultimate right of self defense. Do not roll over on this. Fight it and hire an attorney to help you.

Possibly. It would depend upon the circumstances.

You are allowed to use an amount of force that's reasonable under the circumstances. If you were fighting off an intruder, then the law would give you a lot of leeway. But if your fight was with a guest, then you wouldn't get much leeway at all.
